National Committee on Arms Embargo Holds Student Workshop
Doha, March 17 (QNA) - Qatar National Committee on Arms Embargo has held an awareness session for university students on the Treaty on the Prohibition of the Emplacement of Nuclear Weapons and Other Weapons of Mass Destruction.
Held under the auspices of HE Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Maj. Gen. Hamad bin Ali Al-Attiyah, the workshop was inaugurated by Air Commodore Nasser Mohamed al Ali, chairman of the National Committee on Arms Embargo.
Qatar University, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Georgetown University-Qatar, Northwestern University, Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar, Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, and the College of the North Atlantic, Qatar, all participated in the workshop.
In his inaugural speech at Georgetown University-Qatar's conference room, Air Commodore Nasser Mohamed al Ali praised the male and female students who attended the workshop, and considered them partners in the goals and implementation of the National Committee on Arms Embargo that aims to maintain security and safety in the country.
Al Ali said that Qatar is in the forefront of countries that signed the Treaty on the Prohibition of the Emplacement of Nuclear Weapons and Other Weapons of Mass Destruction, and has ever since supported the international efforts to spread the treaty worldwide.
"Out of the belief in the importance of students and young people's sector in the community, the National Committee on Arms Embargo will interact with them through ideas and opinions, put the national and international significant issues between their hands, and have a dialogue with them as partners in the goals and the implementation," Al Ali said.
The audience praised the workshop and hailed it as successful as it raises the awareness about international agreements on the embargo of nuclear, chemical and biological arms. (QNA)
