Arbitration and ADR in Banking and Financial Disputes Summit in Doha

Doha, March 13 (QNA) - The International Chamber of Commerce, Qatar National Committee (ICC Qatar) will host a summit on Arbitration and ADR in Banking and Financial Disputes. The event, sponsored by Qatar National Bank (QNB) and McNair Chambers will take place on March 29 at the La Cigale Hotel, Doha. The symposium, which will be attended by high-profile officials and industry leaders, will focus on the role of Arbitration and ADR in resolving banking and financial disputes efficiently. Panels will exchange views with the participants throughout the summit, while sharing experience and trends for the resolution of banking and financial disputes. Arbitration is the preferred method to resolve commercial disputes and the ICC is one of the most well-known institutions for arbitration. The ICC Commission on Arbitration aims to create a forum for experts to pool ideas and impact new policy on practical issues relating to international arbitration, the settlement of international business disputes and the legal and procedural aspects of arbitration. The Commission also aims to examine ICC dispute settlement services in view of current developments, including new technologies. Salman Al Mohannadi - CEO QNB Capital said: "QNB is very pleased to support this event. Arbitration performs a vital role in helping commercial parties to limit the impact upon their businesses in the event of disputes and it makes sure these are solved in an internationally acceptable manner. We look forward for interesting discussions on recent developments in this field". For his part, Professor Khawar Qureshi, QC Head of McNair Chambers added: "We are delighted to sponsor this event. McNair are committed to ensure that businesses and Qatari entities are well informed to make the right choices in their commercial agreements and to provide maximum protection and safeguards for when things go wrong - as they often can. This event is very timely given the huge projects Qatar is likely to be commissioning in the coming years."(QNA)
