Meeting with German defense minister held in Uzbek Foreign Ministry

Uzbekistan, Tashkent, March 13 / Trend D. Azizov / Uzbek Foreign Ministry's leadership and a delegation of the Federal Republic of Germany, headed by Federal Defense Minister Thomas de Maiziere. discussed bilateral relations at a meeting on Monday, the ministry said. Both sides exchanged views on international and regional issues. As it was reported, the delegation arrived in Tashkent for bilateral consultations on Monday. It is expected that within his first visit to Uzbekistan, de Mezieres will also hold talks with Uzbek Defense Minister Kabul Berdiyev. Today, the German Air Force uses a civilian airport near Termez on the border with Afghanistan for its own purposes. The official lease agreement was signed in February 2002, and was prolonged in 2010. The airport is used for the transportation of humanitarian aid and logistic support to Afghanistan.
