Equipment for mine clearing handed over to Georgian armed forces under NATO program

Georgia, Tbilisi, March 12 / Trend N.Kirtzkhalia/
Military Engineering Brigade of the Armed Forces of Georgia received the equipment for mine clearance. Equipment for sappers worth 460,000 euros were purchased as part of a trust fund of the NATO "Partnership for Peace", the Ministry of Defence told Trend on Monday.
The agreement on transfer was signed by a representative of NAMSA David Taundrou and First Deputy Defense Minister Nodar Kharshiladze. Deputy Prime Minister Giorgi Baramidze, head of the liaison office of the NATO Deputy Colonel William Lahiu and Estonian Ambassador to Georgia, Thomas Bow, as well as representatives of diplomatic missions of countries - participants of the project participated at the ceremony.
The project is implemented in Georgia since 2010. In the framework company of combat engineers in accordance with international standards of humanitarian mine clearing has been prepared in its framework. Appropriate equipment was transferred to Gori military hospital.
The acquisition of several vehicles for the company is planned.
