FLOOD CARRIES AWAY THREE CARS INTO RIVER IN DENPASAR
Denpasar, Bali, Oct. 8 (ANTARA) - Incessant downpours since Tuesday (Oct. 7) caused an inundation on several roads in Denpasar, Bali Province.
Three cars passing Siulan street were carried away into Tohpati River by the flood. A number of local residents rescued drivers and passengers of the ill-fated cars.
"I never thought that the road was flooded because I pass the area everyday. But, the river suddenly overflew and dragged my car," Hidayat said.
A number of residents in West Denpasar Subdistrict were forced to flee their homes as floodwater reached a height of up to 2.5 meters in their area. Search and rescue officers helped evacuate the flood victims to higher ground.
According to Sudiana, one of the officers, the flooding affected almost all parts of Denpasar, especially at Padang Hijau housing complex, Tegal Indah, Padang Asri, Supratman Street, Siulan Street and Pura Demak Street.
