AZERBAIJAN OMBUDSMAN OFFICE AND “WOMEN AND DEVELOPMENT” CENTER HOLD SEMINAR ON ACTIVATION OF WOMEN`S PARTICIPATION IN ELECTIONS
Baku, 07 0ctober ,(AzerTAj)Ombudsman Office of Azerbaijan and “Women and Development” Center held a seminar covering the topic “increasing women`s participation in elections” in Jalilabad, southern region of Azerbaijan, located 208 km from Baku.
Representatives of local election commissions, municipalities and communities
attended the seminar.
The participants stressed importance of holding free, fair and democratic elections
on October 15, 2008. They said women must gain full election suffrage.
A representative of the Apparatus gave detailed information about works carried out
by them to protect and provide women`s voting rights.
Similar seminars have been already taken place in Shaki, Mingachevir and Guba
regions of Azerbaijan.
