Iran's supreme leader welcomes Obama's statement

Azerbaijan, Baku, March 8 / Trend D.Khatinoglu / Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, called the statement of U.S. President Barack Obama, in which he spoke out against war with Iran, "good words". "These words indicate that the U.S. lost illusions", Khamenei said in a meeting with representatives of the Council of Experts, the official website of the supreme leader said on Thursday. At a press conference at the White House on Tuesday Obama criticized his Republican opponents for "beating the drums of war" when, he said, diplomacy could still settle the nuclear dispute. However, in the same speech, Obama said that sanctions against Iran will be expanded. This, according to Khamenei, shows that the United States are still in the grip of the illusion that they can subdue Iran. "The continuation of these illusions will hurt American leadership, and it will fail," said Khamenei. He said the new sanctions will fail "like they have failed for the last 33 years."
