UN, Turkmenistan to define cooperation priorities and joint projects

Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, March 6 / Trend H. Hasanov / A Memorandum of Understanding between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Turkmenistan was signed in Ashgabat, an official Turkmen source said. The document was signed in order to define the cooperation priorities and opportunities for implementation of joint projects. A strategic advisory board consisting of representatives of the UNDP and relevant ministries and departments of Turkmenistan will be created. Recently, Ashgabat has hosted a conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan's accession to the UN. The United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia headquarters in Ashgabat. The office's main activity directions are assisting to the establishment of efficient relations in the space of Central Asia - water and energy issues, general disarmament, political settlement of the situation in Afghanistan and combating international terrorism, improving ecological and socio-economic situation in the Aral Sea.
