Education Excellence Day- Statements

Doha, March 05 (QNA) -On the occasion of the Education Excellence Day, President of Qatar University, Dr. Sheikha Al Misnad has referred to such an event as an intelligent step of the wise leadership to recognize the excellent fellows of the country in a celebration that reveals the care and interest of the wise leadership to education and knowledge. Al Misnad pointed out to the big number of the excellent alumni of Qatar university at the event saying "We are proud them, Qatar university students are always on the lead." In response to a question by Qatar News Agency (QNA) Monday she affirmed that the excellence of Qatar University is reflecting the success of its developmental schemes. She added "Qatar university is moving forward the route of advancement and success with the wise directives of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and the HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani." Al Misnad went on saying, " No joy is equal to the one you feel when one of your students or alumni is honored in such a special event. Today, I m frankly happy to see Qatar University s alumni among the honorees" Meanwhile, Executive director of the Ministry of Environment's Laboratories and Standardization Affairs division, Dr Mohamed bin Saif al-Kuwari, parent of Dr. Seif Bin Mohammad Al Kuwari, expressed his happiness on this occasion where excelled students of the country are being honored under the patronization of HH the Heir Apparent and Chairman of the Supreme Education Council Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. In a statement to Qatar News Agency QNA, Dr.Al Kuwari wished best of luck to the honored students in their career life in pursuit of contributing at building their country." On the same occasion, HE Sheikha Aisha bint Faleh Al Thani a member of Qatar Supreme Education Council said that the patronization of HH the heir apparent to the day with the attendance of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser is " A merit and an honor to all the excellent alumni" noting to the accomplishments that Qatar achieved in the educational process due to the intelligent directives of the wise leadership. Ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, HE Riad Ali Al Ansari and a parent of the distinguished student Riad, stated that this day is considered an event of pride where the excellent students are honored in pursuit of encouraging and motivating them to excel and achieve the vision of Qatar 2030. Today 28 distinguished students and teachers have been honoured of which 18 are high school graduates, 4 University Alumni, 2 Ph.D. (Doctorate of Philosophy) holders, a distinguished teacher, and 2 distinguished schools along with one student who was awarded the Research Excellence Award. Awards recipients received platinum and golden medals, excellence certificates as well as cash prizes allocated for this purpose. The judging committee has earlier set many orientation sessions targeting such groups of students, teachers, and schools to introduce them to the awards, the winning criteria, application ways, and the papers needed for application. All the interested applicants for the awards met the committee members who answered all their inquiries and questions. The organizing committee for the award has received more than 100 applications which have been thoroughly scrutinized by high profile committee members of educational experts and figures of academia. The committee then presented its report to the HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education who is also chairman of the board of trustees of the scientific excellence award to accredit it. According to the prize criteria, high school award winners of level 1 receive a platinum medal and an excellence certificate along with a cash prize of 35,000 Riyals while distinguished students of level 2 receive a golden medal, an excellence certificate along with a cash prize of 25,000 Riyals. University distinguished alumni students of level 1 receive a platinum medal and an excellence certificate along with a cash prize of 45,000 Riyals whereas level 2 distinguished students receive a golden medal, an excellence certificate and a cash prize of 35,000 Riyals. Both PH.D. holders and distinguished teachers receive each of a platinum medal, an excellence certificate, and a cash prize of 60,000 Riyals. Distinguished schools receive a cash prize of 100,000 Riyals, an excellence certificate and a golden medal thus 50% of the prizes goes to the financial box of the school, and the other 50% goes to the administration and teaching staff. A distinguished research receives a golden medal, an excellence certificate, and a cash prize of 20,000 Riyals. The Excellence day Award, patronized by HH the Heir Apparent annually, is regarded as the highest academic honoring award given to distinguished individuals and educational institutions in Qatar. The Education excellence day aims at recognizing and honoring the distinguished Qatari students as well as emboldening the concepts of educational excellence, encouraging all individuals and educational institutes on improving their performances, spreading the spirit of innovation among the students, researchers, educational institutes as well as raising the spirit of competition among them.
