TRAIN PASSENGERS RETURNING FROM HOMETOWNS AT GAMBIR DECLINING
Jakarta, Oct 6 (ANTARA) - The number of people returning to Jakarta by train from their hometowns for the Idul Fitri had been declining after the peak on Sunday (Oct 5).
"Their number has started to drop after its peak yesterday with 12,500 passengers," spokesman for state railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI), Akhmad Sujadi, said here Monday.
He said that up to 6,000 passengers had arrived in Jakarta by this afternoon.
"We will welcome Argo Lawu, Argo jati, and Taksaka trains this afternoon. We have predicted that 10,000 passengers will be arriving today," he said.
At Gambir railway station in Central Jakarta, PT KAI prepared 34 regular trains and six additional trains for hometown goers.
