SIDOARJO REGENT ASKS FOR MORE DREDGERS TO CLEAR HEAVILY SILTED PORONG RIVER
Sidoarjo, E Java, Oct 6 (ANTARA) - Sidoarjo Regent Win Hendrarso asked here Monday the Sidoarjo Mud Handling Agency (BPLS) for more heavy equipment to dredge the River Porong for mud disposal.
According to Hendrarso, the condition of River Porong has become seriously silted.
"We have asked the BPLS for more equipment for dredging purposes," he said.
"The existing equipment is not enough to clear the heavily silter river," Hendrarso said, adding that there are several segments of the river which need special handling, like the area under a bridge of the Porong river, which unless immediately handled may wash the bridge during heavy rains.
