Libya to make use of Turkey's experiences in upcoming term, says chairman of National Center Party

TRIPOLI (A.A) - February 28, 2012 - Libyans are busy establishing new political parties ahead of the upcoming general elections in about four months. A reception to promote Libya's National Center Party led by Ali Terhuni took place at the Rixos Hotel in Tripoli. Membership applications were distributed to the participants of the reception who listened to the activities of the political party. Speaking to the AA after the reception, Ali Terhuni said that "as a political party, our aim is to contribute to the transformation process in Libya". We want to make Libya be a democratic, modern and Muslim country. The most important problem in Libya has to do with the economy. Libya is a very rich country. However, at this time, it is among the most poor Arab countries. We need to find a solution to Libya's economic problems, Terhuni stressed. As a political party, we want to prepare projects that would make Libya one of the most crucial countries in the Middle East and Africa. Sectors such as construction, education, health and justice need restructuring in Libya, Terhuni said. We expect the Libyan elections to take place in June. The will of the Libyan people will reflect on the ballot boxes, Terhuni noted. We believe that the trial of the late Libyan leader Muammmar Gadhafi's son, Seyful Islam Gadhafi, will take place after the elections when the judicial system of Libya would settle down, Terhuni underlined. During the civil war in Libya, Turkey made great assistance to the Libyan people and the Libyan government, Terhuni said. Turkey, with its Islamic, economic and democratic structure, could be a model to Libya. Libya wants to make use of Turkey's experiences. I do hope that we will have a political structure that resembles Turkey. I believe that Libyan youth could get educated in Turkey for this purpose. I hope that Turkey and Libya will be in strong cooperation in the future, Terhuni added.
