Law college graduate threatens judge: police

SEOUL, Oct. 6 (Yonhap) -- A 50-year-old graduate of Seoul's top law college was
arrested and charged with threatening to kill a high court judge, police said
Monday.

The man, identified only by his last name Lee, has made dozens of menacing calls
to Supreme Court Justice Park Si-hwan since May, threatening to kill him and his
family, according to police. He was allegedly angered by Park's ruling in a civil
case in which his relative lost, police said.
Lee, who graduated from Korea's top Seoul National University and has been
studying for the national bar exam for over 20 years, evaded prosecutor and
police investigations with the help of a friend, identified only as Yoon, police
said.
After the prosecution's probe faltered, police began tracking Lee in September
and eventually arrested him on Oct. 1 at a bus stop near Park's house, which was
under 24-hour protection.
Lee was carrying a club and a 40-centimeter dagger when he was arrested, police
said.
