BOEING 737-300s TO REPLACE HIGH FUEL OIL CONSUMING BOEING 737-200s
Solo, Indonesia, Oct 05 (ANTARA) - Tranportation Minister Jusman Syafii Djamal said that high fuel consumption Boeing 737-200s are recommended to be replaced by the younger Boeing 737-300s.
The minister made the remarks when inspecting the Boeing 737-200 of Sriwijaya Airline which had an engine failure at Solo's Adi Sumarmo airport on Saturday (4/10).
He said the ill-fated Sriwijaya Boeing 737-200 is now being checked thoroughly.
However the pilot said he has followed all stipulation.
The minister said that the plane was airborne, but the condition of the plane will be examined.
Asked about the Idul Fitri exodus the minister said that more people on motorcycles were killed this year.
Therefore he suggested motorcyclists would use trains. Even if they had to go by motorcycle they should at least have a rest for after every two hours of travelling to restore their physical fitness.
Train accidents mostly occurred on ralway crossings without a gate.
