KADIN HOPES GOVT INTENSIFIES DOMESTIC PURCHASING POWER POLICY IMPLEMENTATION

Jakarta, Oct 5 (ANTARA)- The Indonesian chamber of commerce and industry (KADIN) has expressed hope that the government should step up its domestic purchasing power policy to anticipate the impact of the US financial crisis on Indonesia's manufacturing sector.
Chairman of KADIN's fiscal and monetary committee, Bambang Soesatyo made the remarks here on Sunday, adding that the impact of US financial crisis also tended to cause a financial recession in the European Union (EU).
"So that our manufacturing sector will also be trapped in the sluggish growth situation both in the US and the EU because the two regions have become main destinations of Indonesian exports," he said.
In a bid to prevent a collapse, the most ideal solution is that the Indonesian manufacture sector needs to concentrate on the domestic market. But the fact is that industry is now facing a decline of people's purchasing power.
