Simplified visa regime with EU to be first applied to countries with many Azerbaijani citizens

Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb.9 / Trend M. Aliyev / Simplification of visa regime between Azerbaijan and the European Union will be applied first to those countries, where a great number of Azerbaijani citizens temporarily reside or study, Head of EU delegation to Azerbaijan Roland Kobia told journalists on Thursday. While the question is about simplifying visa regime for Azerbaijani citizens, but we would like to see it also applies to the EU citizens, who want to visit Azerbaijan. Thus, it would be possible to simplify rules for entry into Azerbaijan for the EU countries' citizens, wishing to see the "Eurovision Song Contest 2012" in Baku. Negotiations on simplifying visa regime between Azerbaijan and the European Union will be held on March 1-2, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev told journalists on Thursday Earlier the meeting was postponed due to bad weather conditions in Baku. The first meeting on the visa facilitation between Azerbaijan and the EU was scheduled for the first week of February. On Dec.20, 2011, the EU Council of Ministers gave a mandate to start negotiations with Azerbaijan on this issue. Visa facilitation will simplify a procedure of obtaining visas for certain categories of people, will reduce visa fee, as well as necessary documents required for obtaining visa.
