Turkish PM: World keeps silent over violence in Syria because Muslims are killed there

Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb.7 / Trend A.Taghiyeva / Thousands of people killed in Syria are Muslims, and for this reason the world keeps silent in the face of violence in this country, and even supports it, TRT Haber TV channel quotes Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as saying on Tuesday. Syria is a brotherly country for Turkey, and therefore, Ankara will be close to the Syrians and support their demands, Erdogan said. "Those who allow continuing murders in Syria are as guilty as the country's authorities," he said. Using the veto, Russia and China blocked the adoption of a resolution on Syria at the UN Security Council last Saturday. This is the second time when Russia and China as permanent members of the UN Security Council did not allow a resolution on Syria. Anti-government protests, which began in mid-March, continue in Syria for already ten months. Daily reports are received about death of people - both civilians and security forces. According to the UN statistics, the total number of victims in the country exceeds 5,000 people. The Syrian authorities accuse armed militants of the clashes, who receive assistance from neighboring countries. Do you have any feedback? Contact our journalist at agency@trend.az
