HUNDREDS OF RI, FOREIGN ARTISTS TO PARTICIPATE IN JOGJA JAVA CARNIVAL
Yogyakarta, Oct 4 (ANTARA) - Hundreds of Indonesian and foreign artists are to participate in a Jogja Java Carnival to be held on Oct 25 as part of actvities to mark the 252nd anniversary of Yogyakarta city,
"This event will take place in Yogyakarta for the first time. A number of artists from other Asian countries have already confirmed their participation in the carnival," coordinator of Jogja Java Carnival, Bambang Paningron, said here Saturday.
Panningron said the foreign artists would come from China, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Japan and Malaysia. "A number of Australian artists will also come," he said adding that artists from Yogyakarta would among other things perform the Beksan Lawung dance.
"The interest of local and foreign artists in the carnival is very high but we need to select them based according to certain standards," he said.***4***
