Mottaki: Bahraini initiative impractical

United Nations, New York, Oct 4, IRNA - Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here Friday that his Bahraini counterpart's proposal to form an organization, comprising Iran, Arab states of Middle East, Turkey, and Israel, cannot be materialized.

The Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid's statement has strongly
been welcomed by Israel and its allies.

Mottaki told IRNA, "While greatly respecting my dear brother, Mr.

Sheikh Khalid, the Foreign Minister of Bahrain, I believe that the
proposal lacks any ground for materialization. Our Bahraini friends do
know where is our main problem and why such an issue cannot be met."
He said, "The problem facing the region is that an illegal regime,
which has many claims, is still thinking of expansionism and continued
occupation. Besides being illegitimate, such a regime is not basically
reliable."
"Look! all plans set forth have been rejected by the Zionist regime;
even in the Arab region, all Arab states came and offered an Arab
initiative. The Initiative calls on the Zionist regime to accept three
conditions but it did not meet any of them. This shows that the
Regime, besides being illegitimate, is not reliable."
He reiterated that he consider the Bahraini counterpart's initiative
as impractical.
