VP TO OFFICIALLY OPEN BUGIS MAKASSAR BIZMEN'S MEETING
Makassar, Oct. 4 (ANTARA) - Vice President M Jusuf Kalla is scheduled to officially open a meeting of Bugis Makasar businessmen at the South Sulawesi governor's official residence here on Saturday evening.
"The opening ceremony will be held at the governor's official residence but the meeting itself will take place on October 5, 2008, at the Celebes Convention Center (CCC) with at least 1,000 Bugis Makassar businessmen coming from all over Indonesia attending," the chairman of the meeting's organizing committee, Erwin Aksa, said here on Saturday.
Held annually for the 10th time so far, the meeting would discuss efforts to improve South Sulawesi's macro- and micro-economic conditions, he said.
"It's actually a long-term investment, because the results may not be seen in the next one or two years," he said.
The participating Bugis Makassar businessmen in the annual meeting would establish a new business network which was expected to have a multiplier effect on all segments of the South Sulawesi community.
Ismed Sapoetro, one of the invitees to the meeting, said the meeting would be significant because it would provide an opportunity for cooperation in the economic sector.
Vice President M Jusuf Kalla himself was a prominent businessman originally from South Sulawesi.
