Japan grants relief aid to Thailand's flood victims

BANGKOK, February 2 (TNA) - Japanese people have donated over 200,000 baht to help flood victims in Thailand. Japanese Ambassador to Thailand Seiji Kojima and President of the Japanese Association in Thailand Torajiro Ohashi on Thursday presented the 203,860 baht financial support, donated by Japanese people in Thailand, to Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Seehasak Phuangketkaew. The Japanese ambassador said that Thai people, the Thai government and the Thai royalty had earlier provided financial support for victims of a massive earthquake and tsunami in Japan in March last year and Japan is now ready to help relieve flood damages in Thailand and is confident of rehabilitation in the country. Seehasak told the Japanese top envoy and delegate that the Thai government regretted that flooding in Thailand last year affected Japanese firms and the administration is implementing improved measures to prevent any flood damage in the future.
