HE Speaker of the Qatar Advisory Council Returns to Doha

Doha, February 01 (QNA) - Speaker of the Advisory Council HE Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khulaifi and his accompanying delegation returned to Doha on Wednesday afternoon from Indonesia after participating in the seventh Conference of the Parliamentary Union of member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation(OIC) held at Palembang on 30 and 31 January. The Conferees addressed several issues including the issue of the city of al quds ash-sharif ( holy city of Jerusalem) , the Palestinian cause , the occupied territories , terror combat under the UN umbrella , reaffirmation of the legitimate right to resist occupation and foreign aggression, democracy, human rights and international humanitarian law, supporting the efforts to establish a sustainable dialogue between the Islamic parliaments and the western parliaments and calling upon all Arabic parliaments to play an active role on the dialogue among civilizations. They also discussed how best to enhancing the role of women in all aspects of development in the PUOIC member states, the adoption of the communique of the seventh Conference and announcing its resolutions as well as the formation of a drafting Committee. HE Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khulaifi has addressed the opening session of the Conference praising the efforts made to host this session, noting the thorough preparations and organization of the event. The speaker of the Advisory Council expressed hope such a conference would be a starting point to achieving ambitions and aspirations of the Muslim peoples for progress and sustainable development. The delegation was greeted upon return at Doha International Airport by a number of officials of the Advisory Council. (QNA)
