Hamas Lauds Qatar's Efforts in Achieving Convergence with Jordan
Doha, February 01 (QNA) - Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) Spokesman Dr. Ismail Radwan hailed Qatar's efforts in achieving convergence between Hamas and Jordan after a long period of estrangement between the two sides, stressing that such efforts have set up a new phase in Hamas-Arab relations.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on Wednesday, Dr. Radwan expressed thanks to HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and to the Government and people of Qatar for their efforts made to achieve the convergence between Hamas and Jordan.
Meanwhile, Hamas Spokesman described the meeting held between HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Jordan's King Abdullah II and Chief of the Hamas Political Bureau Khalid Mashaal as positive and said it had opened a new page in the relations between the movement and Jordan.
Radwan renewed emphasis on Hamas refusal to make Jordan the alternative Palestinian homeland, pointing out that the main goal of Hamas is the establishment of a Palestinian State on the whole territory occupied by Israel.
The meetings took place in Amman between the delegation of Hamas and officials in Jordan will establish a new framework of cooperation between the two sides in the interest of the two countries and the Palestinian issue, Radwan said, adding the delegation will discuss several topics during the current visit on how to activate the relationship between the two sides.
Regarding transferring Hamas headquarters from Damascus during Syrian current crisis, Radwan refused to comment, saying, there is no talks about this topic and the goal of the visit to Jordan is to get ties between the two sides back to the right track. (QNA)
