UK's NGO helps increase Vietnamese coconut-palm value
Ben Tre (VNA) - Prosperity Initiative (PI), a non-governmental organisation of the UK operating in agricultural and market development assistance, will help increase the value of coconut-palms in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre.
According to a memorandum of understanding signed between PI and the
provincial People's Committee, the organisation will focus on studying
coconut products that can bring high export value and huge profits.
PI will also help improve the provincial businesses' capacity and provide
professional training so as to raise coconut-palms' value and contribute to
promoting socio-economic development in Ben Tre's rural areas.
The organisation's project is to be executed for 3 years with an
estimated cost of over 1.4 million USD.
Ben Tre currently has nearly 45,000 ha of coconut-palms with more than
half of the provincial population living on coconut-palm growing.-Enditem
