President: Russia’s pressure tangible when Georgia builds democracy

Georgia, Tbilisi, Jan. 30 / Trend N. Kirtzkhalia /
When Georgia was building democracy, the pressure from Russia was felt, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said at the Summit Basecamp in California (U.S).
President Saakashvili was invited as a special guest.
"The assassination attempt on my life was planned to be made," the Georgian president said.
The President also drew attention to the existing situation in Georgia, the reforms conducted in the country and its relations with Russia.
"Georgia is really a beautiful country," he said. "This is one of the oldest Christian countries in the world. The medicine and science originate from here. However, the situation in the country was so hard a few years ago that about 80 percent of the population were not provided with electricity. The corruption was actually a rule of life."
