Kosmina rules out Milligan return
Out-of-contract defender Mark Milligan will not be welcome back at Sydney FC should he eventually give up on his European dream. The 23-year-old Olyroo left the A-League club at the end of last season to pursue a career abroad but is yet to be picked up. As recently as last week he was trialling with German club Werder Bremen.
"You don't go out with old girlfriends and you don't take old players back," Kosmina said after training on Friday, where Sydney were preparing for Saturday's night's clash with Queensland Roar. "Mark left this club. He said he didn't want to be here anymore and for me that's more than enough."
Milligan's lack of regular football led Socceroos coach Pim Verbeek to leave him out of the 35-man squad for the World Cup qualifier against Qatar in Brisbane on October 15.
"We all hope he will find a club very soon but I cannot select a player who is just doing some training, some tests, in Europe," said Verbeek. "Mark understands his situation and hopefully he will find a club soon because he is one of the players with talent and a very good age for the future."
