“Abhisit” urges PM to inform flood prevention plan to foreign investors
BANGKOK, January 26 (TNA) - Political opposition leader Abhisit Vejjajiva on Thursday suggested that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra ought to inform foreign government leaders and investors on her government’s reconstruction plans in the country following late last year’s massive flood while she attends the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Speaking to journalists after holding meetings with South African and South Korean ambassadors to Thailand, Abhisit, the leader of Democrat Party, said foreigners are worried about political situation in Thailand and want to see reconciliation among political parties after last year’s general election.
Personally speaking, Mr. Abhisit said he wants Yingluck who is on her way to attend the 42nd World Economic Forum in Davos to inform foreign government leaders and businessmen attending the meeting on Thai government’s reconstruction plans after the country was hit by flood late last year rather than making publicity on Thai culture.
Yingluck is to attend the Davos meeting this Friday and Saturday.
Meanwhile, Science and Technology Minister Plodprasop Suraswadi said a meeting on water management in Bangkok was held earlier Thursday in which an earlier agreement was reached.
The earlier agreements, according to him, include an assistance to be given by the government to Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) on ways to prevent flood and dredging 29 major canals in the capital.
Plodprasop said BMA is willing to allocate budget to the military to assist in flood prevention works. (TNA)
