Lee's economic adviser to attend global policy forum in France
SEOUL, Oct. 3 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Myung-bak will send his economic adviser to next week's forum on international politics in France to share South Korea's policy on handling global financial jitters, the presidential office said Friday.
Sakong Il, Lee's special advisor for the economy, will take part along with
international leaders in the World Policy Conference to be held in Evian from
Monday through Wednesday, said Cheong Wa Dae.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy will attend the forum organized by the
non-governmental French Institute of International Relations, as will Kofi Annan,
former U.N. secretary general, and Nato Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.
Sakong will offer his assessment on factors of global financial instability
driven by U.S. bad debts and press for the need to bring reforms to international
financial and monitoring systems. Zbigniew Brzezinski, former U.S. national
security advisor, will also speak on the panel, along with Senegalese President
Abdullah Wade, Monglolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar and Palestinian Prime
Minister Salam Fayyad.
