UNESCO: Azerbaijan plays important role in promoting intercultural dialogue

France, Strasbourg, Jan. 25 / Trend A. Maharramli / Azerbaijan plays an important role in promoting the intercultural dialogue, UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova told Trend today. "Azerbaijan is a country with which UNESCO is closely working," she said. "By conducting the international conferences and other important events, Azerbaijan plays a special role in promoting the intercultural dialogue." She also stressed that UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Azerbaijani First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva is actively involved in the preservation of the intercultural dialogue, tangible and intangible cultural heritage. "We are closely working with Azerbaijani First Lady in different areas," she said. "The events having particular importance to the intercultural dialogue have been carried out in Baku at the initiative of Azerbaijani First Lady. I believe that we will be able to find answers to global challenges by promoting the intercultural dialogue. I think that Azerbaijan has an important role in promoting the intercultural dialogue in the region and beyond it." She said that UNESCO and Azerbaijan have many projects and ideas.
