Turkmen president: Mutually acceptable decision should be made on Caspian Sea

Receiving Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, President's Special Envoy for the Caspian Sea Mohammad Mehdi Akhundzade in Ashgabat, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov stressed "the need for a coordinated, mutually acceptable decision on the status of unique basin," Turkmen government said on Tuesday.
Berdimuhammadov noted the high level of the Turkmen-Iranian relations, which have been rapidly developed in recent years. He said "like all other partners, Turkmenistan is interested so that the Caspian region developed in an atmosphere of peace and stability." At the same time, "the need for a coordinated, mutually acceptable decision on the status of the common unique basin" was stressed.
In recent years, as is known, certain successes were achieved in the negotiations on the Caspian agenda, Berdimuhammadov said emphasizing "the importance of continuing consultations for further approximation between the Caspian states and the rapid resolution of all issues related to the legal status of the Caspian Sea, which meets long-term interests of five neighboring states".
