NHRC, Libya's National Human Rights Council Sign MoU for Cooperation

Doha, January 23 (QNA) - Qatar National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) and Libya's National Council of Public Freedoms and Human Rights signed Monday at the Ritz Carlton Hotel a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for joint cooperation in the promotion of human rights and mutual coordination between the parties as well as exchange of effective practices in the field of promotion of human rights in the two countries. The agreement was by Chairman of National Commission for Human Rights Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Al-Merri and by Chairman of Libya's National Council for public freedoms and human rights Mohamed Al Allaqi . According to the MoU , both sides agreed to promote opportunities for joint cooperation through mutual coordination in several areas including human rights culture, educate members of the community through awareness campaigns, seminars, forums and workshops, to develop a joint plan for human rights education and public education to raise the capabilities of employees of civil society organizations through the development of training programs and the establishment of specialized training courses on topics of human rights and international humanitarian law. The two sides also agreed to exchange experiences and expertise through field visits and the preparation and implementation of human rights related programs. (QNA)
