AZERBAIJANI DELEGATION ATTENDS ANNUAL IAEA GENERAL CONFERENCE IN VIENNA

Baku, 02 0ctober ,(AzerTAj)Azerbaijani delegation led by President of the National Academy of Sciences Mahmud Karimov is participating in the 52nd annual IAEA General Conference started on September 29 in Vienna, Austria.

The event brings together representatives from more than 140 countries.
On September 30, M. Karimov delivered a report in the meeting.
Karimov said his country attaches significant importance to cooperation with IAEA
adding various projects are being implemented in the country within Azerbaijan-IAEA
technical cooperation.
The report placed special emphasis on the issue on uncontrolled territories
stressing that illegal regimes in the occupied territories are out of control. “Such
territories create favorable conditions for illegal turnover of nuclear and
radioactive materials” the report said.
Karimov called on the IAEA to take serious measures with regard to these issues and
to strehgthen efforts to ensure peace and stability in the world.
On the sidelines of the meeting, members of the Azerbaijani delegation are expected
to meet with representatives from IAEA Departments of Nuclear Safety and Security,
and also Technical Cooperation.
The 52nd annual IAEA General Conference will end on October 4.
