REPORT CRITICIZING ARMENIAN AUTHORITIES PRESENTED AT MEETING OF PACE MONITORING COMMISSION
Baku, 02 0ktober ,(AzerTAj)The Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr Thomas Hammarberg and PACE monitoring committee co-rapporteurs presented a report on Armenia`s implementing PACE`s resolution the meeting of the PACE monitoring committee.
The document calls on the Armenian authorities to investigate the circumstances that
led to the events of 1 March 2008. The fact that legal action was not launched with
regard to killing of 10 people during March events was also set out in the report.
Member of the UK delegation to the PACE Mike Hancock stated Armenia still fails to
observe democratic principles. According to him, election irregularities made people
take such steps.
The Diplomat expressed concern over the arrests during March events.
