OIC Chief calls for abidance of resolutions on Unified Hejri
Jeddah, October 02, SPA -- Prof. Ekmeleddine Ihsanoglu, Secretary
General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) has
congratulated all Muslims across the world, on the occasion of the
blessed Eid al Fitr , and prayed to Allah Almighty to accept their
fasting, their worshipping acts and their deeds of charity , and to
see to it that this blessed event brings with it well-being and
prosperity for the Ummah as well as unity of its ranks and
consolidation of its mutuality such as to achieve progress, dignity
and glory for the Muslims.
In a press release issued here yesterday, the Secretary General
noted that the different dates at which the Islamic world celebrates
this happy occasion does not reflect the aspired unity in feelings
and stands on such a blessed event, but is rather an indication of
dispersion and disunity and creates confusion in the public opinion,
not to mention the fact that it is an uninspiring civilizational
state of affairs at a time when scientific and technological progress
has made it so easy to determine the dates of our religious occasions
that are meant to unite all Muslims.
The Secretary General underlines, on this occasion, the importance
for all the Member States to abide by the resolutions issued by the
Organization on the unified Hejri calendar, such as to eliminate
traits of divergence and dispersion and to project rather an image of
the Muslims’ unity in their feasts and celebrations.
