Iran, Russia to expand bilateral, regional, intl. cooperation

Moscow, Oct 2, IRNA Iran and Russia on Wednesday announced willingness to expand cooperation on bilateral, regional and international levels.

Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Borodavkin, told Iran's
Ambassador to Russia Gholam-Reza Ansari at the end of his
ambassadorial mission here Wednesday that growing mutual ties will
guarantee stability in the region and help solve international issues.

Talking to IRNA, Ansari said that in the meeting, the two sides
expressed readiness to expand cooperation, especially in the energy
and transportation sectors.

He said the two parties also urged more consultations, being
optimistic with future of their relations.

He said volume of mutual transactions reached dlrs 3.3 billion in
2007, showing 10 percent growth in the first three months of 2008.

He added that at the meeting he had requested increase in export of
Iranian industrial products, especially Samand cars, to Russia.

Ansari was Iran's Ambassador to Russia for three years.
