Mottaki discusses major issues with UN Ban Ki-moon

United Nations, New York, Oct 2, IRNA Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki discussed major regional and international developments with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday.

In a meeting held on the sidelines of the 63rd annual session of the
UN General Assembly, Mottaki and the UN chief exchanged views on
crises in Georgia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine.

Mottaki stressed the key role Iran has played in settlement of major
regional crises.

He regretted that the issue of Palestine was left unsolved although
over 100 peace plans, resolutions and initiatives have so far been
provided to that effect.

Referring to the UN Security Council's latest anti-Iran resolution
(1835), adopted on Saturday against Iran's peaceful nuclear program,
Mottaki referred to the council's move as a show off.

Meanwhile, the UN chief outlined the body's stand over Iran's nuclear
standoff with the West urging it's resolve through continued
negotiations.

He also hailed Tehran's positive role in settling regional and
international crises.
