Qatar Participates in 130th WHO Executive Board Session

Doha, January 16 (QNA) - Qatar participates in the 130th World Health Organization (WHO) Executive Board session that launches in Geneva today , Monday and runs till January 23. HE Minister of Public Health, Abdullah bin Khalid Al Qahtani who is also Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH) and WHO Executive Board member heads the Qatari delegation to the session. The session has many topics on its agenda such as the global burden of mental disorders, the need for a comprehensive, coordinated response from health and social sectors at the country level, infant and young child nutrition, nutrition of women in the preconception period, during pregnancy and the breastfeeding period, and early marriages, adolescent and young pregnancies. The session's agenda also includes monitoring the achievements of the health-related Millennium Development Goals and discussing the outcome of the World Conference on Social Determinants of Health that was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in October 2011. The participants will also tackle prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases, elimination of schistosomiasis in addition to discussing reports of committees of the Executive Board. (QNA)
