Qatar, Sri Lanka Hold Official Talks

Colombo, January 15 (QNA) - A session of official talks between the State of Qatar and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka led by HH Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar and HE President Mahinda Rajapaksa, President ok Sri Lanka was held in the presidential secretariat in Colombo this evening. Talks dealt with bilateral ties between the two countries and means of promoting them in various fields besides the latest regional and international developments. The session was attended by a number of Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Emir. On the Sri Lankan side, the session was attended by a number of Their Excellencies the Ministers and senior officials. HH the Emir and the Sri Lankan President then held a bilateral meeting. Later they witnessed the signing of a number of bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoU); including an agreement on bilateral economic, trade and technical cooperation, an agreement for cultural cooperation and an agreement on legal co-operation between the Governments of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Sri Lanka. A MoU in tourism sector has been also signed between the Governments of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Sri Lanka along with a MoU on education, higher education and scientific research co-operation, a MoU on civil aviation, a MoU with regard to a high joint committee between Qatar and Sri Lanka as well as a MoU on bilateral investment between Qatar Holding and the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka. A MoU between QATARI DIAR Real Estate Investment Company and Board of Investment of Sri Lanka has been also signed. (QNA)
