President: Parliamentary elections are significant to strengthen democratic values in Kazakhstan

Podolyak / The upcoming elections are important for Kazakhstan and strengthening the democratic values, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said while addressing the people in connection with the forthcoming elections to the Majilis (lower chamber) of the parliament and local representative bodies to be held on January 15. The appeal was published on the Akorda official website. The president said that all participants of the electoral process had wide opportunities to familiarize the voters with their election platforms. All the conditions were created in the country for open, fair, transparent and competitive elections. The legality is ensured at all phases of the electoral campaign. The political parties can equally appeal to the media. The President thinks that Kazakhs saw who is who, by hearing local politicians' speech. They assessed which parties have specific programs, what steps they plan to implement for the benefit of the people. "I am sure our people, all Kazakhs will understand and support the stability, development and concrete actions aimed at flourishing the country, improving the lives of the people," he said. The President stressed that the international community shows huge interest in the elections. The CEC accredited 819 observers from eight international organizations and twenty nine foreign countries. The elections will be covered by 118 representatives of foreign media.
