Qatar Studies Building of Space City in Al-Khor, Civil Aviation Director Says

Doha, January 13 (QNA) - Chairman of Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) Abdul Aziz Mohamed Al Noaimi has announced that the State of Qatar is considering the establishment of a space city in Al-Khor area. In remarks to reporters during the inauguration of Aviation Day at Al-Khor Airport Al Noaimi Said:" There is a plan for space city in Al-Khor area the details of which will be revealed after it gets formal approval from the top authorities in the state''. "A certain official appointed body will be responsible for the development of the space city project and the General Authority of Civil Aviation is part of it," Al Noaimi added. About the developing of Khor Airport, Al Noiemi pointed out that the development would be within the space city project development, saying that the airport will most likely be constructed in the same site of the existing airport as the most appropriate for the project. "It will be the official airport for aviation amateurs," said Al Noaimi. Referring to the Open Aviation Day, organised by a committee of amateurs for the fifth consecutive year with the support of the Civil Aviation Authority and other organizations, Al Noaimi revealed that the Civil Aviation Authority will adopt the next year version to become a pan-Arab event. "The Civil Aviation Authority will send formal invitations to Arab civil aviation authorities to participate in the event," he said. Al-Noaimi said that the two-day event is evolving year after year with regard to organization, increasing participants and aircraft in addition to the increasing number of audience. (QNA)
