Qatar's Champion Shooter Al Shiba Retires

Doha, January 13 (QNA) - Qatar's international shooter Abdul Nasser Ahmed Al Shiba has announced his official retirement from the sport of shooting at a farewell event held at the Losail International Shooting Complex. Al Shiba's farewell was held under the patronage of Al Sadd Sports Club Board Deputy Chairman HE Sheikh Juwan bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of 12th Asian Shooting Championship at Losail Complex on Thursday night. Senior shooting officials from Asian and international bodies including, Asian Shooting Confederation President and Deputy-President of International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) HE Salman Al Hamoud Al Jaber Al Sabah; Qatar Shooting and Archery Federation (QSAF) President HE Mohammed bin Ali Al Ghanim; Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Director of Sport Affairs Department Khaleel Ibraheem Al Jaber and Arab Shooting Federation (ASF) President Duaij Al Otaibi attended the farewell function. Al Shiba, 47, was Qatar's country's most high- profile shooter before the arrival another ace Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah. Al Shiba made history in March 1988 when he became the first Qatari to win a medal at the Arab Championships in Cairo. He went on to win 56 medals in an international career spanning 21 years. (QNA)
