Qatar Petroleum to Hold First Occupational Health Conference in March

Doha, January 09 (QNA) - Under the patronage of HE Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al- Sada, Minister of Energy & Industry and Chairman & Managing Director of QP, the 1st Qatar Petroleum Occupational Health Conference will be held on March 20-21 here in Doha with the theme "Towards a Healthier Workforce" The two-day event will bring together occupational health experts and practitioners for an in-depth discussion of best practices and innovative programs as well as the prevailing issues and challenges related to effective health management in the workplace. In a press briefing held today at the Four Seasons Hotel to announce the event and addressed by senior QP officials, QP said that up to 200 local, regional and international delegates are expected to attend the 1st Qatar Petroleum Occupational Health Conference, which is offered for free to qualified participants. The conference is primarily intended for occupational health practitioners, HSE professional, human resources personnel, company physicians and nurses, wellness managers, mental health professional, industrial hygienists, health advisors, ministry officials and academicians. Organized by QP's Medical Services Department in cooperation with the Corporate HSE Department, the 1st Qatar Petroleum Occupational Health Conference will feature professional pater presentations, panel discussion, networking sessions, lectures, case study discussions, and interactive workshops. Specifically, the conference will focus on a wide variety of topic, including workplace health promotion programs, the cardiovascular disease burden in the workplace, functional capacity assessment, work-related stress in the oil & gas industry, industrial hygiene regulatory framework and compliance, and sickness absence management. "By providing a platform for discussing laudable programs and important issues related to occupational health, the 1st Qatar Petroleum Occupational Health Conference will provide all participants with an opportunity to be updated on the latest developments in the field, allowing them to gain new knowledge that would serve them well in the performance of their duties as occupational health professionals," said Dr Mahmooud A.R. Al-Jaidah, Director Medical of QP. Dr Al-Jaidah was among the senior official from QP who addressed the media during a press conference held today. The other official who were present included Ahmad Ali Abdulla Al-Mawlawi, Director Administration; Saad Ali Mohammed Saad Al Kubaisi, Manager, Corporate HSE Support; and Hassan Mohd Ali Al-Ajmi, Acting Manager, Public Relations and Communications.
