MT MELATI 5 RELEASE BRINGS JOY AND RELIEVE TO RIZAL`S FAMILY

JOHOR BAHARU, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- "All praise to the God all mighty" were
about the only words uttered by Rizal Shah's parents upon receiving news that
the hijacked MT Melati Lima was released and that crew members on board were
safe.

Rizal's father Abdul Jabar Abdul Hadi, 59, and mother Fauziah Salleh, 55,
had spent an entire month in anguish after learning that their 29-year-old son
was among 39 Malaysian and five Filipino crew members of MT Melati Lima that was
hijacked by Somali pirates off the coast of Somalia on Aug 29.

"Upon receiving the good news from a representative of the Malaysian
International Shipping Corporation (MISC), owners of the MT Melati Lima, we both
sat down an prayed to thank God.

"We are relieved and overjoyed with the good news but I will not be
satisfied without seeing my son in person," said Fauziah who had fallen ill
after learning the fate of MT Bunga Melati Lima.

The release of MT Melati Lima on Sept 28 and MT Bunga Melati Dua yesterday
brought about relieve and joy to millions of Malaysians and Muslims worldwide,
preparing to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri Wednesday.

According to Jabar Sibuk, MISC had contacted him on Sept 27 to inform him
that talks on the release of the ships were going on well, after the ransom
demanded by the pirates, had been paid.

"Just like what the Prime Minister had said of the release, this is
definitely a Hari Raya present from Allah the all mighty to us, said Jabar Sibuk
who was busy preparing "ketupat" at his house in Taman Kemas when met by
reporters here today.

He added that Rizal, the second of his four siblings would return to
Malaysia soon.

The saga of the two ships started on Aug 19 when MT Bunga Melati Dua with
29
Malaysians and 10 Filipinos was hijacked by pirates while on its way from
Indonesia to Holland through the Gulf of Eden.

Exactly 10 days later MT Bunga Melati Lima which was on its way to
Singapore
from Yanbu, Saudi Arabia was also captured by pirates.

During the hijack incident, a Filipino crew member was killed when he was
hit by a stray bullet.

The Malaysian government later dispatched three Royal Malaysian navy
vessels
- KD Lekiu, KD Inderapura and KD Pahang - to escort MISC ships sailing in the
risky waters, following the two hijacking incidents.
