Thai PM inspects progress on Transport Ministry's projects

BANGKOK, January 9 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra inspected the Ministry of Transport's progress on its billions of baht investment projects on Monday, including the one on the phase-2-development of the country's main Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Upon arrival at the ministry headquarters, the premier was welcome by Thai Transport Minister Air Chief Marshal Sukumpol Suwanatat and later held a meeting with the ministry's executives, during which she was briefed on progress of the new investment projects, including a procurement of 3,500 natural gas for vehicles (NGV)-powered passenger buses of the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA), the second-phase 83.5-billion-baht expansion of the Suvarnabhumi International Airport and the construction of 10 extended skytrain lines, connecting Bangkok with peripheral provinces over the next four years. Premier Yingluck was also presented the Ministry of Transport's one century-anniversary jacket during her visit to the ministry. (TNA)
