Bayer Defeats Al Ahly 2-1

Doha, January 07 (QNA) - Bayern Munich clinched a win against Egyptian club Al Ahly in the dying seconds of the game, in the friendly match held in Qatar on Saturday. Munich took the lead after 31 minutes when Al Ahly's defender Ahmed el Sayed scored an own goal. Egyptian midfielder Ahmed Barakat leveled the score on 49 minutes. However Bayern clinched the win after Ivica Olic scored in the fifth minute of added on time. Al Ahly came out stronger early on and made a number of attacks. However, after retreating for a while, Munich managed to regain possession of the ball. Bayern then upped the tempo, a cross from Arjen Robben found the head of Ivica Olic. El sayed failed to clear and the ball hit him and went into the net. Bayern did not settle for the goal and continued dominating. In the 44th minute Bayern almost double the lead if it weren't for Sherif Ekramy's, Al Ahly goalkeeper, alert reaction. Al Ahly came out much stronger in the second half. A through ball from Mohammed Abo Treika played Barakat through on goal, who side-footed the ball past the helpless Manuel Neuer. Al Ahly continued to dominate much of the second half in an evenly contested game. However Olic managed to clinch the game for his team in the 95th minute. The friendly match is part of both teams' preparation for their domestic leagues. Bayern will return to action in the Bundesliga on January 20th. (QNA)
