Hyundai Heavy wins US$1.7 bln deal for power plant, desalination facility
SEOUL, Oct. 1 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., the world's leading shipyard, said Wednesday it has won a US$1.7 billion deal to build a power plant and a desalination facility in Bahrain.
The deal with a consortium led by France's Suez Energy International calls on
Hyundai Heavy to build a plant in the Middle Eastern country which will have a
power-generation capacity of 1,245 megawatts.
Under the contract, Hyundai Heavy will also build a desalination plant with a
daily processing capacity of 220,000 tons of water by 2011.
Shares of Hyundai Heavy closed at 260,000 won on the Seoul bourse, down 3.35
percent.
