W SUMATRA TARGETS FOREIGN TOURISTS EXPENSE 172 USD/DAY

Padang, Sept 30 (ANTARA) - West Sumatra Province administration set the target of the money spent by the foriegn tourists in the region reached 172 USD (1.54 million rupiahs) per person per day in 2009.

"The value of the money spent becomes one of the main target of the building, development and improvement the quality of tourism sector. The program is fund by the regional budget," West Sumatra Governor Gamawan Fauzi said here Monday (Sept 29).

The administration also target the foreign tourists to stay for about 4.14 per person in 2009 with total target of visits reached 151,054 people, Fauzi added.

To make the target into realization, West Sematra province in 2009 will present the tourism branding product in a form of tourism object as well as tourism attraction.

"The administration will also increase the qulity of tourism package, product improvement creativity, tourism facilities and manpower absorption," added Fauzi.

"The tourists attraction in a form of culture, entertainment, museum as well as national park will also be increased," he said.

West Sumatra, said Fauzi, has the most complete tourism kinds and objects.

"This province has seas with beautiful beaches, small beautiful islands, lake, valley, canyon, hills, national park, rivers and historical inheritance," Fauzi explained.

Main tourist destination in the province includes Lake Maninjau in Agam subdistrict, Ngarai Sianok canyon in Bukittinggi, Mandeh beach in Pesisir Selatan subdistrict, and Istana Bassa Pagaruyung palace in Tanah Datar subdistrict.

West Sumatra province has set by the central government as the main tourists destination in western Indonesia.
