QP's Mesaieed Refinery Holds 'Clean Refinery Day'

Mesaieed, Qatar, December 28 (QNA) - Qatar Petroleum (QP) Refinery held here its annual 'Clean Refinery Day' as part of its commitment to promote a safe workplace, sustainable environment and raising the awareness of it staff. Activities for the day included all staff, from senior management to junior levels including women, participating in cleaning the refinery premises. The day also featured planting of trees around the refinery. At the conclusion of the event, all the participants signed their name on a signature board to reflect their commitment to keep their workplace clean, tidy and safe at all times. QP Director Refining Hussain Al Ishaq said, "Clean Refinery Day 2011 was an opportunity for us to renew our pledge not only to a cleaner and safer workplace but also to actively contribute in global efforts to protect the environment. I would like to commend all QP Refinery employees for their valuable support and commitment to make the refinery environmentally friendly." The success of the event was possible through the continued full support of HE the Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman & Managing Director of QP Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, he added. Now on its second year, the 'Clean Refinery Day' initiative was implemented as part of the refinery's comprehensive programme to successfully promote a strong Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) culture within the refinery. The inaugural event last year received a good positive feedback from all employees and a decision was taken to turn it into an annual activity. This year, the official slogans for the event were 'Clean Today, Feel Great Everyday' and 'Less Pollution is the Best Solution'. (QNA)
