Hamad Medical Corporation and IAEA Jointly Organize Workshop

Doha, December 27 (QNA) - Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) on Tuesday organized a regional workshop along with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The workshop aims at training medical physicists from the Middle East, Asia to accurately assess patients and manage safe doses of diagnostic and therapeutic radiation. Participants in the workshop included delegations from ten countries, 20 HMC medical physicists and technicians, in addition to 17 trainees from other countries such as UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Iran, Lebanon, Malaysia, Singapore, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand. The workshop, which was moderated by three distinguished IAEA experts, is a part of an IAEA project launched in 2005 in a joint effort of 20 countries. Qatar joined the project in 2010 to guarantee safety and proper quality of all radiological devices employed in the medical field. HMC Director of Health and Occupational Safety Dr. Huda Al Naemi said that Qatar took a great stop through the workshop towards securing safe radioactive doses for patients. (QNA)
