MFA issues travel advice for Thais travelling to Egypt

BANGKOK, December 27 (TNA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a written advice for Thai nationals living in Egypt and those planning to travel to the North African nation, following deadly demonstrations in Cairo, Egypt's capital. The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned in the statement that Thai nationals now staying in Egypt and those having to travel to the country are to keep away from the Tahrir Square in Cairo, the demonstration site, and its vicinity and to keep themselves updated for latest developments there. According to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement, the Thai Embassy to Egypt has closely coordinated with the Thai community in the North African nation and monitored the situation in Cairo. So far, all Thai citizens in Egypt have been confirmed safe. The demonstrations with reported clashes between the protesters and Egyptian security forces at Cairo's Tahrir Square since December 15 have resulted in several fatalities and injuries. (TNA)
